Tank barge grounded on the Rhine
On Jan 12, 2017, at 7.30 a.m. the "Eiltank 42", 2499 ts (EU-No.: 04503260), ran aground on the Rhine at the height of the Ford-Works in Niehl at river km 796. The master immediately alerted the water police. A tug was deployed to pull the ship from the gravel bar. No leak reported. The tank barge entered the port of Niehl at 12.50 a.m. A low water level on the river was thought to have contributed to the grounding. German report with photo: http://www.express.de/25524020 ©2017
