Beach at grounding site closed for Easter holidays

Mon Mar 27 11:58:27 CEST 2023 Timsen

The Civil Protection authorities of the state of Veracruz has closed the La Cava beach, where the 'Enchanted Capri' grounded in the municipality of Alvarado, so there will be no access to tourists or locals during the easter holidays. The director of municipal Civil Protection, Daniel Romero, confirmed that no one will be able to enter the water in this area. The reason for the closure is that the wreck causes eddies around it, making the water at La Cava beach dangerous for swimming. Despite this, people will be able to see the stranded ship, which is now a tourist attraction. Former Russian passenger ship decaying on the beach of Alvarado

Wed Jan 11 11:30:00 CET 2023 Timsen

The 'Enchanted Capri' remains stuck on the beach of Alvarado since November 2020 now. After the four ruunner crew members (captain, cook and two engineers) were rescued, the ship has remained there without authorities responding to its fate. It had left the Port of Coatzacoalcos bound for the port of Tampico. When it was anchored in front of the municipality of Alvarado, it was dragged onto a sandbar. A few months before running aground, it was serving as a hotel ship for oil platforms in the Campeche Sound. On Oct 15, 2020, she entered the port of Coatzacoalcos for dismantling, however, the owners of the vessel did not reach a financial agreement for the work and it was decided to transfer it to the port of Tampico. The ship has broken in two since the grounding, and iron, vests, plastic and other debris is scattered on the beaches of Alvarado. Enchanted Capri - new video footage of the wreck on the beach

Fri Jan 07 09:31:29 CET 2022 Over_the_ocean

The former cruise ship ENCHANTED CAPRI, built in 1975 by Wärtsilä in Turku, Finland, as AZERBAIDZHAN, was supposed to be scrapped in Coatzacoalcos, Mexico, from the end of 2020, but was towed away again at the end of October 2020 to be brought to Tampico and to be scrapped there. On November 2, 2020, however, the ENCHANTED CAPRI ran aground in heavy seas. The ship was to be scrapped on site from now on. It is now lying as a wreck on Playa de Alvarado in the Mexican state of Veracruz. Full article + video link: https://www.cruisedeck.de/wrack-der-enchanted-capri-aktuelle-schaurig-schoene-aufnahmen/
