Tanker rescued crew member of distressed sailing yacht

In the night of Dec 30, 2019, the sailing yacht ‘Evelina’ broke down with a crew of four on board in the area of the Makronisos Strait. The sails were torn and the engine failed. The tugs 'Salvor I' and 'Apollon' were sent to the position by the port authorities of Lavrion and Rafina, but could not take the boat in tow due to stormy weather with up to nine Beaufort winds from the northeast. A navy helicopter was then sent to the rescue. Three of the crew members were hoisted abaord. The fourth was rescued by the 'Energia' and taken to Elevsis. Tanker damaged in Eleusis

The propeller of the "Energeia" was damaged in the afternoon of Sep 3, 2016, when unmooring from the petroleum terminal in the port of Eleusis in order to move to an anchorage in the bay. The vessel was assisted to the mooring with the help of a tug, and banned from sailing until completing repairs and surveys.
