Engine failure in Çanakkale Strait
The 'Tilly Russ' suffered an engine failure on Sep 17, 2020, at 3 p.m. during the transit of the Çanakkale Strait while enroute from Aliaga to Gemlik. The ship went adrift in the Dardanelles. The captain notified the Çanakkale Coastal Police. The Coastal Safety sent an SAR ship to the scene. The crew of the 'Tilly Russ' managed to restart the engine and headed to rescue ship to the area. The captain informed the Coastal Security that he wanted to anchor in Karanlık Limana. The vessel was accompanied by the 'Kurtarma 6' and 'Kurtarma 3' and moored in pos. 40° 2.60' N 026° 18.60' E at 4.20 p.m.
