51 migrants rescued off Lanzarote

51 migrants were rescued on Aug 13, 2022, about 36 miles from Lanzarote after the'Esna' reported to the Las Palmas Rescue Center at around 1:00 p.m. that it had sighted a boat bound for the Canary Islands. Salvamento Marítimo came to assist the pneumatic boat that was drifting with 51 migrants, both sub-Saharan and Maghreb, about 36 miles from Arrecife. Although it had buoyancy, it was overloaded and its occupants were asking for help. The bulk carrier supplied water and food to the migrants, while the SAR Vessel 'Guardamar Polimnia' headed to the area, where it arrived after 3:00 p.m. to rescue the 34 men and 13 women-. The ship then headed for the La Cebolla Pier (Lanzarote), where it arrived at around 4:45 p.m.

ING Arrests National Navigation Panamax in India Over OW Bunker Bill

Esna, a 71,600 DWT bulk carrier owned by Eygpt-based National Navigation Co. (NNC) has been arrested in the port of Dahej, India after ING Bank (ING) filed a lawsuit to recover $431,200 for bunkers supplied to the vessel by OW Bunker in October 2014, TradeWinds reports.
