Captain defied owner's order and left pirate infected waters

Sun Jan 10 17:34:58 CET 2021 Timsen

After the 'Express 6' entered Thai waters and moored off Phuket anchorage on Jan 8, 2021, without giving notice to authorities and getting permission to do so, the port authorities and police boarded the ship and interrogated crew and Captain. The 18 crew includes six Thais, seven Indonesians, one Myanmar and f our Chinese nationalities. They reported that the ship had left China in August2020 with the owner's order to collect fish products in the Arabian Sea. The contracts were overdue, and no guards were provided to protect the ship from possible pirates attacks. The Captain decided after talks with the crew to leave the area and headed to Phuket. The ship remained at anchor, while the investigation was continued. The Thai crew members requested to be disembarked and allowed to return home.
