Season for 2025 ended early due to significant damage

Tue Jun 24 10:42:20 CEST 2025 Timsen

The "Fair Lady" will no longer be able to depart for Heligoland in 2025. After starting the Heligoland season from Bremerhaven on April 11, the technical defect has forced the ship into the Mützelfeldt shipyard in Cuxhaven since May 28, and the extent of the repairs is still unclear after the transmission failure. The scope of the damage was not entirely clear yet, but it certainly seemed to be significant. Captain Thorsten Diekmann and his crew had been scheduled to make nearly 50 sailings from Bremerhaven through the fall. Wilhelmshaven and Hooksiel, as well as the island of Langeoog and trips from Norddeich were also on the agenda.

Sailings cancelled due to transmission damage

Thu Jun 12 09:22:00 CEST 2025 Timsen

The "Fair Lady" is expected to be out of service until June 27, 2025, due to a technical damage. The transmission failure is more extensive than originally expected. Therefore, the planned trips to Heligoland from Bremerhaven, Langeoog, Hooksiel, and Wilhelmshaven with the sister company Adler & Eils have been canceled until the end of the month. The ship is currently being repaired at the Mützelfeld shipyard in Cuxhaven, which is part of the Bredo Shipyard in Bremerhaven. The shipping company Cassen Eils canceled the ship's planned departure from Wilhelmshaven to Heligoland on May 29. A few days later, the departures from the seaside resort quay in Bremerhaven were also canceled. Since April 2025, the "Fair Lady" has been operating regularly from Bremerhaven to Heligoland again after six years, with at least 47 departures planned until the end of September, every Friday through Sunday.

Fire on ship at yard

Tue Mar 06 21:29:06 CET 2018 Timsen

On March 6, 2018, at 7.20 p.m. a fire broke out in the engine room of the "Fair Lady" which was actually docked at the Mützelfeldt Yard in Cuxhaven. A guard had observed smoke and raised alarm. 50 men of the fire brigades from Cuxhaven and the volunteer forces from Groden and Cuxhaven-Mitte attended the fire at the Imperator Quay. They were supported by the fire boat "Bürgermeister Brauer" and the "Anneliese Kramer" of the DGzRS. At 8.30 p.m. the fire was out. The cause of the fire was still unclear. The police was investigating. Repairs at the Mützelfeldt Yard in Cuxhaven were completed on May 18.
