Allision in Goderich
The bulk carrier 'Saginaw', while leaving the port of Goderich, Ontario, assisted by a tug, allided with the berthed 'Federal EMS', which had come from Detroit, on Nov 20, 2021. Minor damages to the berthed vessel were reported. The 'Saginaw' sailed from Goderich on Nov 21 at 6 a.m., bound for Drummond Islands, where she arrived at 10.20 p.m.
Engine trouble near Varennes
The 'Federal Ems' suffered issues with the revolution of the main engines in position 45 39 36.6 N, 073 26 49.0 W, near Varennes on Sep 12 at 8.50 p.m. It anchored in the navigation channel and requested emergency towing assistance. It sailed from Pointe aux Trembles on Sep 13 at 12.35 a.m., headed to Gibraltar with an ETA as of Sep 24.
Bottom touch off Massena
The 'Federal Ems' suffered an engine failure and touched the bottom in the St. Lawrence River in front of Massena, St. Lawrence County, on Sep 10, 2020, at 6 a.m. The ship was proceeding downstream en route from Thunder Bay to Montreal when it got stuck west of Eisenhower Lock. It dropped anchor outside the fairway where it did not hamper passing ship traffic. Navigation, which had been suspended for other ships in the area, resumed in the night of Sep 10. On Sep 11 it was moored in pos. 44° 58.41' N 074° 53.00' W. Divers began a survey of the bottom of the vessel to look for any damage. After engine repairs the ship resumed its voyage and arrived in Montreal on Sep 12 at 9.50 a.m. The cause of the incident was under investigation.
