Grounding in Southwest Pass

Sat Apr 28 12:38:17 CEST 2018 Timsen

The "Federal Tweed" lost power in the Southwest Pass and ran aground at the jetty end of the channel, on Apr 26, 2018. Due to the vessel's position, the bar pilots have temporarily reduced their draft recommendation to 36 feet. Tugs were deployed to the scene to assist in refloating the vessel. After it was pulled off, it proceeded to the Southwest Pass Anchorage. Normal traffic patterns resumed shortly after, and no further restrictions were anticipated at this time.
