The Reverse Stern Drive (RSD) WID Tug 2915 Hybrid Fregate is a unique harbour tug that has been designed to provide a single vessel that is a fully-functional tug with 42.5 tonnes of bollard pull but is also fitted with a Water Injection Dredging (WID) system that enables it to maintain the depths of the harbours of Cayenne and Kourou in French Guyana.

Redwise delivers FREGATE safely in Cayenne

The WID 2915 HYBRID vessel FREGATE has been safely delivered under own power by Redwise Maritime Services BV from Amsterdam to Cayenne. This Damen built ASD vessel is a hybrid in more than one sense. Apart from having an advanced hybrid propulsion system, she combines the functions of an ASD tug with the capabilities to conduct maintenance dredging. The FREGATE is designed and equipped with an Air- and Water injection system for maintenance dredging at the harbours of Cayenne and Kourou. The vessel can sail in direct driven diesel mode and through the electric motors on the VETH thrusters. The main engine driven generators are able to provide simultaneously for: propulsion, pumps and air compressor for the air- and water injection system, winches etc. This true hybrid is furthermore equipped with a substantial firefighting system to provide additional emergency response capabilities. Redwise takes pride in delivering ships under own power to any place where they can get safely afloat.
