SAR operation has ended without finding missing fisherman

The 26-year-old Jo Aron Kvinge Rogne from Longva in Møre og Romsdal is believed to have died after falling overboard from the "Langenes" in the evening of Nov 15. The trawler with a crew of 20 was in the Barents Sea, north of Bjørnøya. The shipping company set up a crisis team and relatives were notified, at the same time that the Norwegian Central Rescue Service launched an extensive SAR operation. In the afternoon of Nov 16 the Northern Norway Rescue Center in Bodø announced that the search for the missing fisherman had ended. Tore Roaldsnes, general manager of the shipping company Bluewild, which owns the freezer trawler, is in mourning since he received the message and sent all his condolences to the relatives and crew, who are now in a very demanding situation. At the same time, he extended a big thank you to the many people who have contributed to the last day's search for the fisherman. Tore Roaldsen, owner of Bluewild, which owns the trawler "Langenes", directed his thoughts to the next of kin of the fisherman. A total of 11 fishing vessels took part in the search for the missing man. The search operation was coordinated by the Central Rescue Center Northern Norway, while the Coast Guard ship "Barentshav" had the on-scene command. In addition, two rescue helicopters were deployed in the search. The police and the Accident Investigation Board will investigate the death. The Tromsø crisis team has been notified and is assisting the crew over the phone and will receive them when they arrive in port. Currently, the ship is still in the search area north of Bjørnøya. The Ålesund crisis team has also been notified and will take care of relatives and the shipping company's other employees.

Search for missing fisherman

11 fishing vessels and the Coast Guard ship 'Barentshav' participated in the search for a missing fisherman who has fallen overboard from the 'Langenes' on Nov 15, 2022. As of No 16 morning there were still no findings. Two helicopters have been released and have returned to their bases. The sea search continues until further notice. On Nov 15 at 7.53 p.m. on the Northern Norway Rescue Center was contacted by the vessel which was missing a crew member in the area just north of Bjørnøya. The "Barentshav" and several fishing vessels that were in the vicinity when the emergency message was sent out, were included in the search for the missing fisherman. The "Barentshav" is leading the SAR operation. An SAR helicopter from Svalbard joined the search at midnight, while SAR Queen, which flew out of Banak, refueled at Bjørnøya before flying further north and arrived in the search area at around 01.05 a.m. There was a slight gale blowing from the west in the search area and rough seas. The rescue operation is coordinated from the Northern Norway Central Rescue Center in Bod.

Freezer towed to repair yard

The "Langenes" arrived at the Fiskerstrand shipyard in Sula in the evening of Sep 16. In the morning of Sep 14 the tow had started from Stavanger by the "BB Server".
