Allision damage repaired in Oldersum

After the allision with a mooring dolphin in the eastern harbour of Norddeich on the morning of April 8, the'Frisia E-1' was being repaired at the Diedrich shipyard in Oldersum since April 10. Minor damage was caused to the starboard side bow. Due to the damage, a temporary sailing ban was initially issued for the passenger ferry by the investigators of the police. The Frisia shipping company anticipated a return of the vessel at the end of the week to the regular service to Norderney. According to the shipping company, a maneuver, which was initiated too late, was the cause of the incident.

Allision in Norddeich

On the morning of April 8, 2026, the 'Frisia E-1', enroute from Norderney to Norddeich, allided with a mooring dolphin when entering port. The impact damaged the bow of the ferry, causing a slight dent. No one was injured in the allision. Due to the deformation of the bow, the German Social Accident Insurance Institution for the Transport Sector (BG Verkehr) issued a temporary sailing ban. An inspection by its staff was scheduled for April 9. The Emden Water Police, who were conducting inspections in the port of Norddeich at the time, immediately recorded the incident on site. Their investigation revealed that the allision was caused by the captain misjudging the speed of his ship during the docking maneuver.

Collision in Norddeich

On April 16, 2025, at around 11:34 a.m, the ''Frisia E 1' was in collision with another island ferry, the 'Frisia II (IMO: 7723974)', in the Norddeich ferry port (Aurich district) while casting off. The accident caused a hole approximately 30 x 30 centimetres on the port side above the waterline. No one was injured, and no environmental damage was caused. The further investigations were being carried out by the Water Police Emden The ferry has not been operational since the accident. The damagewas repaired in the port. On the morning of April 16, the department of the German Transport Accident Insurance Association responsible for ship safety, was able to release the ship.
