Heat development in battery compartment

Thu May 22 21:21:09 CEST 2025 Timsen

On May 20, 20205, smoke came from the battery compartment of the 'Future of the Fjord'. At 3:33 p.m., the emergency services were notified due to a possible fire. There were a total of 310 people on board. The fire was extinguished by the vessel's own extinguishing system. The Aurland Fire Protection checked the interior with a thermal camera to find out where it started and to check that the temperature was dropping. Just before 4 p.m., all passengers were evacuated. The firefighers helped to get the passengers' luggage out. No injuries were reported. There have been no open flames in the vessel, Report with photo: https://www.bt.no/hendelser/i/Rz0aQa/evakuerer-baat-med-310-mennesker-om-bord-i-aurland

Vessel Future of the Fjords fights for Title "Ship of the Year" at SMM

Mon Sep 03 08:25:41 CEST 2018 arnekiel

Three high-tech vessels, all serving very different segments, have been selected as the nominees for this year’s coveted Ship of The Year title. Aker Biomarine’s krill harvesting ship Antarctic Endurance, The Fjords all electric passenger vessel Future of The Fjords, and PONANT’s expedition cruise ship Le Lapérouse complete the shortlist for the prestigious accolade, to be handed out at SMM in Hamburg on 4 September. The Ship of The Year initiative has been running since 1997, organized by respected Norwegian trade title SKIPSREVYEN. The magazine’s subscribers nominate the most noteworthy vessels to launch over the year, with an expert jury deliberating to find a final shortlist and ultimate winner.
