Trawler assisted distressed boaters

Thu Aug 27 11:07:49 CEST 2020 Timsen

On Aug 26, 2020, shortly after 3 p.m., the CROSS Med received a distress call from a pleasure craft in difficulty following water ingress with four adults and three children aboard about fives nautical miles south-east of the mouth of the Rhône, off Fos-sur-Mer. The 'Paphido II', which was fishing nearby, was immediately engaged by the CROSS, hauled up the fishing gear and proceeded to the position. At the same time, the CROSS requested the lifeboat 'SNS 073 - Patrons Antonin & Raoul Domenge' from the SNSM station Carro and a semi-rigid from the Marseille sailors' battalion (BMPM) in Port-de-Bouc. The trawler was the first to arrive and went on standby. The SNSM boat then brought the water ingress under control and takes the pleasure boat in tow, after having picked up the seven boaters on board. They were brought back safe and sound to the port of Port-de-Bouc.
