Five dead in fire in pump room

The "Gankoroma" suffered a fire in a pump room on Sep 7, 2017, at 3.20 p.m. during maintenance works at the Batam Ship Repair Yard, Batam. Five people died and one was seriously injured. The fire was extinguished, authorities were investigating the cause of the fire, which was believed to be either open fire during welding works, or a shortcut.

Pertamina takes delivery of aframax tanker 'Gamkonora '

Pertamina has taken delivery of a $52.8m aframax tanker newbuilding from Chinese yard Newtimes. Delivery was three weeks ahead of schedule and the vessel is expected to start operation by late December, Seatrade Asia online reports. The Gamkonora is Pertamina's 49th owned vessel. The Indonesian national oil company plans to own 61 carriers by late 2015, including eight that are currently being built by domestic shipbuilders. Pertamina currently operates 185 ships. Pertamina is planning to allocate $6.7bn for capital expenditure next year to support its various programmes, including acquisitions.
