Sat Dec 01 21:14:00 CET 2018 Timsen

The "Gaslog Saratoga" suffered a bottom touch in waters north of Heraklion on Nov 9, 2018. An underwater inspection revealed that the vessel did not sustain hull damage. The ship arrived at Aliaga on Nov 23 at 08.10 a.m. and sailed again on Nov 24.

LNG tanker grounded off Heraklion

Sun Nov 11 16:32:45 CET 2018 Timsen

The "Gaslog Saratoga" ran aground while approaching Heraklion on Nov 9, 2018, at 8.20 p.m. outside the port's breakwater. The tanker, carrying 150,000 cubic meters of methane, with 31 crew members on board, including 10 Greeks, was refloated with the help of three tugs and anchored off the port of Heraklion. Also patrol boats of the Greek Coastguard and the fire boat "Macedonia" attended. An underwater inspection was carried out by a private diver which revealed that the ship which had got stuck on sandy bottom in a water depth of 9-10 meters about 330 meters from the shore, had withstood the accident without hull damage. On Nov 11 the ship was still anchored in pos. 35° 21.73' N 025° 7.06' E. The tanker left the port again on Nov 10 at 1 a.m. and dropped anchor off Kalamata on Nov 12 around 9 a.m. It had left Port Arthur on Oct 24, bound to the port of Ali Agha in Turkey, with a stopover in Heraklion.
