Power blackout in Manila

Thu Jun 28 12:44:49 CEST 2018 Timsen

The "Isao" suffered a power blackout due to the irregularities in the fresh water cooling system in position 14 38.712 N, 120 14.101E, on June 18, 2018. The auxiliary engine sustained damages which were caused mainly by continuous leaking of the condenser which further caused the HT and LT pumps to be filled with excess air due to the expansion tank's rapid drainage. The damaged parts was the mechanical shaft seal and shafting bearings of auxiliary No. 4 which was caused mainly by the continuous leaking of fresh water from the cooling system condenser that caused the blackout. The vessel was towed from its anchorage to the Keppel Subic Shipyard on June 20. All repairs and tests on the vessel's auxiliary engine and fresh water cooling system were completed on June 26 at 11 a.m., and the ship departed from Subic to Shanghai on June 27, ETA June 30.
