Crew member died on board
In the morning of Jan 3, 2017, the "Gouraya" alerted the CROSS Med for a medevac. The ship was sailing about sixty kilometers south of Fos-sur-Mer. A 50-year-old crew member was reported to be in a state of hypoglycemia and lost consciousness. A Panther helicopter of the French Navy took off from the Hyères naval aviation base with a doctor and a nurse from Sainte-Musse Hospital in Toulon on board. But when they were dropped off on the deck of the ship, the medical team could only confirm the death of the sailor. The body of the victim, a man of Algerian nationality, was taken to the port of Marseille.
