Search on for missing crew member

Wed Jan 23 12:31:06 CET 2019 Timsen

The Philippine Coast Guard searched for a missing crew omember of the “Grande Progreso” who fell overboard off Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental while the ship was underway enroute to Brazil on Jan 15, 2019. The vessel informed the Vessel Traffic Management System (VTMS) Misamis Oriental that one of their chief mates, identified as Mr Dominador Calot Fuentes III, 33 years old and resident of Brgy Baliangao, Misamis Oriental, was missing since around 6 p.m. Upon receipt of the reports, the Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Tagoloan immediately informed CGS "Misamis Oriental" which then coordinated with CGSS "Opol" personnel to check the vicinity off Laguindingan for the possible sighting of the victim but yielded with negative results. On Jan 18 at 10 a.m. a team composed of CGSS "Tagoloan" and CG "K-9" from Northern Mindanao proceeded to vicinity waters off Villanueva Point and boarded the “Grande Progreso” for initial investigations. The Master of the vessel, Captain Benedict B. Gepulango, revealed that while their vessel was sailing off Laguindingan to Villanueva Philippine Center for anchoring on Jan 15 at 3:20 p.m., they noticed that Fuentes was missing and was suspected that he fell overboard.
