40 migrants rescued off La Restinga

The pleasure boat 'Bravo' reported the sighting of a canoe 123 nautical miles south of La Restinga (El Hierro) on Jan 18. The MRCC of Salvamento Marítimo in Tenerife mobilized the Sasemar 101 aircraft and the 'Guardamar Concepción Arenal'Ä, which rescued the 40 sub-Saharan people on board the boat and took them to La Restinga. 39 migrants rescued off La Restinga

Five nautical miles south of La Restinga (El Hierro) a canoe was located with 39 Sub-Saharan migrants on board. The CCS Tenerife of Salvamento Marítimo mobilized the 'Guardamar Concepción Arenal' to assist, which accompanied it to the port of La Restinga, where the migrants disembarked and were cared for by health and security services.

374 migrants rescued during the night

On Jan 14, 2024, the CCS Tenerife was notified of migrant boats off La Restinga. The 'Salvamar Adhara' was mobilized to assist and escorted a cayuco with 130 sub-Saharans. The patrol boat 'Río Segura' of the Guardia Civil accompanied anothher cayuco with 132 sub-Saharans on board. The 'Guardamar Concepción Arenal' finally rescuesd 112 sub-Saharans.
