The "Beluga Fortune" was released by the pirates on Oct 25 as they got no access to the ship's propulsion and the crew had locked themselves in the panic-room. After a warship of the "Atalanta"-forces approached, the hijackers surrendered. The vessel which had suffered only little damage meanwhile resumed its voyage to Richards Bay.

The "Beluga Fortune" was adrift in the Indian Ocean after the crew of 16 was able to reach a shelter and cut off the fuel and machine before. Two warships of the Atalanta forces are on their way, and a helicopter is on scene.

The "Beluga Fortune" on its way from Fujairah to Richards Bay, ZA, was attacked and hijacked off Somalia in the morning of Oct 24, 2010, at 7.30 a.m. 1200 miles east of Somalia. Among the crew are two German citizens.
