Grounding off Qinzhou
The "Hong Yang" ran aground on Sep 14, 2019, at 6.50 p.m. in the approach of Qinzhou port. The ship veered off the fairway while entering Qinzhou upon its arrival from Zhanjiang. The incident was caused by generator failure and ensuing steering failure. On Sep 15 at 2 p.m. the ship was refloated with tug assistance after pumping out ballast water at high tide. It berthed at the Beibu Gulf-PSA International Container Terminal, Qinzhou, at 2.30 p.m.
Container ship seriously damaged ferry in collision
The "Hong Yang" was in collision with the ferry "Jian Feng Ling" in the Hainan Strait on Apr 5, 2018, at 03.50 a.m. The container ship struck the ferry’s starboard side which was significantly damaged with the hull being dented and breached, liferafts damaged or torn off, some trucks and cars on cargo deck damaged and/or destroyed. Several passengers were slightly injured. The container ship sustained damage to the foreship. It had sailed from Haikou on Apr 8, bound for Qinzhou. The ferry was taken to Hainan after the collision and later moved to Zhanjiang.Upload News
