Medevac after fall on deck

Tue Feb 24 09:26:23 CET 2015 Timsen

On Feb 23, 2015, at 08.12 a.m. the Mykonos duty crew launched the sea rescue craft"Spirit of Freemansory" accompanied by a WC Government Health EMS rescue paramedic, after being activated by the Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) reporting a request for medical assistance from the "I Do" calling for medical assistance for a 32 year old local crewman who had suffered a laceration to his head after reportedly falling on the deck of the trawler. On arrival on-scene, 18 nautical miles off-shore of the Port of Saldanha Bay, the patient, already bandaged by fellow crew members but suffering continuous bleeding from a 12 cm head wound, was transferred onto the sea rescue craft and brought to shore in the care of the EMS paramedic and he has been transported to hospital by an SA Paramedic Services ambulance for further treatment.
