World's Largest Semi-Sub Platform Arrives in Australia

Mon May 29 10:49:10 CEST 2017 arnekiel

The Inpex-led Ichthys LNG project is celebrating the safe arrival of the central processing facility (CPF), the world’s largest semi-submersible platform, into Australian waters on Monday. The CPF Ichthys Explorer is the world’s largest semi-submersible platform. It weights around 120,000 tons, with topsides measuring 130 meters x 120 meters (427 feet x 394 feet). It has living quarters for up to 200 people. She was towed from Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea to her final destination, 220 kilometers (125 miles) off the north coast of Western Australia, where she will be located for 40 years in water 250 meters (820 feet) deep. The CPF is the central hub for initial offshore processing of all well fluids delivered from an 130-kilometer (80-mile) network of subsea well infrastructure. http://maritime-executive.com/article/worlds-largest-semi-sub-platform-arrives-in-australia

Ichthys LNG central processing unit sets sail for Australia

Wed May 03 09:40:45 CEST 2017 arnekiel

Ichthys Explorer, the central processing facility (CPF) for Inpex’s Ichthys LNG project, set sail last week from Geoje in South Korea and is en route to its final Western Australia offshore production site. The unit, pictured, is being towed to the Ichthys Field and is due to arrive in around six weeks’ time. It will then be hooked up on site. The unit separates and processes material from the seabed, turning it into gases and liquids. Inpex will shortly take delivery of Ichthys Venturer, the project’s floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit. The project partners are working to build the onshore liquefaction plant outside Darwin in Australia’s Northern Territory. Ichthys LNG project will produce its first condensates, LNG and LPG “during the current fiscal year ending March 31, 2018”, Inpex said in a statement. http://www.lngworldshipping.com/news/view,ichthys-lng-central-processing-unit-sets-sail-for-australia_47515.htm
