Barge wreaked havoc on the Elbe
In the foremidday of Jan 3, 2019, the "Isar", 1164 ts (EU-No.: 04501410;) veered off course during a change of the berths at the Jphnk Yard in Hamburg-Harburg and allided with three boats which were moored at a nearby quay, among them the floating shop "Disco-Volante", the motor yacht "Sindbad" and a wooden fishing vessel of 10 meters length which was breached in the hull and suffered water ingress. The fire rescue laid out oil booms as a precaution. No spill was reported. The accident was caused by a damage of the bow thruster of the "Isar". A weld seam gave way. As a result, a tank with with hydraulic oil, which supplied the control system, was torn off. The oil has leaked, and the control system failed. As a result, the ship was no longer maneuverable.
