Grounding during veteran race
On Sep 28, 2012, the "J.R. Tolkien" ran aground during a race of veteran ships off Wilhelmshaven. The ship had on board about 90 pupils when it got stuck near the Jade-Weser-Port. It had to be pulled off by two other ships and was able to continue. No injuries reported.
