Martin Daldrup dropped off in Saldanha
On Oct 19 the 59 year old, German single hand sailor Martin Daldrup was dropped off from the container m/v 'Alanis' (IMO: 9468085) in the port of Saldanha. He had been rescued by the crew of the ship, which had departed from Navegantes on Sep 29, from a life raft anud waves up to four meters high around 900 nautical miles off the Brazilian coast in the South Atlantic on Oct 9, 18 hours after the German yacht “Jambo” had sunk after the collision with an obstruction in force 5 winds, which destroyed the rudder and caused strong water ingress. German yacht sank, skipper rescued
The container m/v 'Alanis', en route from Navegantes to Saldanha, responded to a distress call of the German single-hand-sailor Martin Daldrup from Hamminkeln, after the "Jambo"suffered a water ingress sank in the Atlantic on Oct 5, 2ß23. After several days at sea characterized by strong winds, the experienced single-handed sailor and long-distance sailor's yacht "Jambo" sank far off the coast of Brazil, probably following the collision with an obstruction. Daldrup was able save himself onto a life raft. The cargo ship proceeded to the position with high speed and rescued the man on Oct 6 at around noon.
