JAN MOLSEN

Fri Jul 30 10:05:42 CEST 2010 Timsen

The "Jan Molsen caused two oil spills on the Elbe at Hamburg-Altona. In the evening of July 24, 2010, at 9.30 p.m. the fire rescue Hamburg was called after the ship which was berthed at the "Landungsbrücken" (landing bridge) lost hydraulic oil in the port. The vessel was boomed off to contain the spill. In the morning of July 25 the fire rescue was called once again as more oil had spilt and caused a pollution which measured 1,5 square kilometres. More booms were laid out. The police started investigations. Due to the damage the ferry had to be replaced by the ferry "Wolfgang Borchert" in the run from St. Pauli to Stader Sand. The "Jan Molsen" berthed at Oortkaten on July 25.
