Von Perle refloated

On March 2 the 'Von Perle' has been refloated by the tug 'Panagia Faner' and shifted from the grounding site to Kos where it anchored in pos. 36° 54.03' N 027° 18.00' E. The departure permission has been cancelled by the Harbour Master until inspections and damage surveys have beem completed. No leaks and no pollution were reported due to incident. The vessel finally reached the port of Famagusta on March 8 at noon.

Grounding off Kos

The 'Von Perle' suffered engine failure off Bodrum, where ith had sheltered from a storm, and drifted aground on a beach at the northeast coast of Kos in the morning of March 1, 2020. The ship with a cargo of 3.300 tons corn and eight crew members on board was en route from Nikolayev to Famagusta via Tilbury, Tuzla and Istanbul. The ship got stuck on sandy bottom in pos. 36° 55.41' N 027° 16.64' E, so the hull remained intact. The tugs 'Antonios' and 'Pothitos' were deployed to assist.
