First specialized ship for nickel ore carriage delivered

OCTOBER 23, 2012 — The Jules Garnier II, the world’s first specialized vessel for the carriage of nickel ore, was recently delivered by Japan' Naikai Zosen Corporation, according to ClassNK. Built for Japanese shipping major JX Shipping Co. Ltd. and classed by ClassNk, the Jules Garnier II is the first vessel to be recognized as a "Specially Constructed Cargo Ship" for the carriage of Nickel Ore in accordance with the IMO’s IMSBC Code.
