Repairs in Tuzla underway

The 'Karima', which had suffered a technical failure at the southern entrance of the Canakkale Strait on Jan 11, 2023, and has made discharge operation at Marmara Ereglisi and Diliskelesi and arrived at the Tuzla shipyard anchorage on March 9. Upon completion of formalities, the vessel berthed at the shipyard pier on March 15. A detailed damage survey was carried out by class surveyor, together with the owner's superintendent. Permanent repairs were commenced by shipyard teams as regards class the surveyors recommendations.

Disabled ship towed to Yalova

AFter the technical failure of the 'Karima' at the southern entrance of Canakkale Strait could not be repaired by the crew, the tug 'Ayaz Bey' (IMO: 7531670) was contracted to tow the vessel to Marmara Ereglisi. The towage operation commenced on Feb 2 at 5 a.m., and on Feb 3 the ship was moored in pos. 40° 41.41'N 029° 13.10' E off Yalova. During the Canakkale strait passage, the Coastal Safety tug 'Kurtarma 13' (IMO: 9913573) had provided escort service for the convoy and ensured the strait traffic safety.

Technical failure in Canakkale Strait

The 'Karima' en route from Benghazi to Marmara Ereglisi, suffered a technical failure at the southern entrance of the Canakkale Strait on Jan 11, 2023. The vessel shifted to an anchorage north of Bozcaada Island anchorage, where repairs were commenced by the crew.
