Engine trouble off Rhodes
On July 30, 2022, at noon the Port Authority of Rhodes was informed by the Master of the'King Saron', which was performing a scheduled route from the port of Rhodes to the port of Symi with 382 passengers and 12 crew members on board, about an increase in temperature in the port side main engine. The ferry diverted to the port of Rhodes at a reduced speed. The ship sailed under its own power safely to the port, where the passengers were disembarked. The Central Port Authority of Rhodes prohibited the sailing of the ship until the repair of the damage and the presentation of a certificate of class maintenance by the monitoring classification society.
Engine damage in Symi
The Port Authority of Symi was informed on July 4, 2022, at noon, by the Master of the 'King Saron' that during the berthing manoever at the port of Symi a damage had occurred to the port side main engine. The passengers were forwarded to their destination by the ship's owner. The Port Authority of Symi initially prohibited the sailing of the ferry, while it was subsequently granted an individual voyage without passengers and cargo to the port of Rhodes.
Passenger injured in fall on board
The Port Authority of Symi was informed on Sep 1, 2021, at noon by the Captain of the 'King Saron' about the injury of a 49-year-old passenger, while the ship was en routefrom the port of Rhodes to the ports of Symi, Panormitis and back to Rhodes. The man had lost his balance, resulting in his fall on the railings. He was initially provided with first aid by the crew, and after the arrival at the port of Symi he was transported by ambulance to the Symi Regional Clinic for further medical treatment.
