Grounding off Bonerate

The KSM 'Asia Raya', while serving the route between Makassar Sulawesi, Selayar islands and East Nusa Tenggara, ran aground off Bonerate island, Selayar Regency, on Oct 26, 2020, at 8.30 a.m. shortly after leaving the port of Bonerato bound for Reo, Selayar, in East Nusa Tenggara. It got stuck while crossing Tertera island near Majapahit village. There were 32 passengers, three of whom had just boarded in Bonerate, on board. All were evacuated by peronnel of the Harbour master and police. They were taken to the mainland aboard the KM 'Bunga Batari' and accomodated at the local harbour master office. A faulty navigational equipment was believed to have been the cause of the grounding.
