Collision on Surabaya anchorage
The cargo m/v 'Cantida Persada', being loaded with 1,600 tons of fertilizers, which was moored 11 kilometers off the Petrokimia Port near Gresik, dragged her anchor and drifted onto two anchored ships, the ‘Indah 88‘ and 'Bunga Melati XXI‘ (MMSI: 525003114) in the morning of Jan 30, 2021. The 'Cantida Persada' suffered a hull breach at port side in a cargo hold in the foreship, which caused a massive water ingress. It went down by the bow and settled on the bottom, with the stern still protruding from the water. The 16 crew members were safely evacuated.
