One injured in ferry fire

One crew member suffered burns when the KMP 'Lelemuku' aught fire at Saumlaki Ferry Port, South Tanimbar District, Tanimbar Islands Regency, Maluku Province on May 24, 2021, at 7.30 p.m. The victim was subsequently rescued by officers and has been rushed to hospital. The fire which was thought th have been caused by an electric circuit, started to spread from the stern of the ferry and engulfed the ship. Several fire engines were on site trying to extinguish the blaze. A water cannon truck of the Tanimbar Islands Police was also deployed to the scene. The Tanimbar Police was monitoring the situation.
