Ariadne left Thyborøn one month after nearly capsizing

Fri Apr 22 09:48:17 CEST 2016 Timsen

The "Ariadne - L 303", 1188 gt (IMO: 9298002), which was threatened to capsize in the port of Thyborøn on Mar 21, finally has left the port again on Apr 17 bound for Scheveningen, where she berthed on Apr 18 at 7 p.m. in the fishing port.

Trawler was threatened to capsize in Thyborøn

Tue Mar 22 09:34:24 CET 2016 Timsen

On Mar 21, 2016, at 6.40 p.m. the "Ariadne - L 303", 1188 gt (IMO: 9298002), started to develop a list to starboard at the Svanholm Quay in the port of Thyborøn at 6.40 p.m. Luckily the doors in the hallway on starboard side were closed, so there was no ingress of water into the ship. The cause of the list was believed to be problems with some valves that controlked the trim of the ship. About 400m3 of water very quickly shifte to starboard, and the heel of the "Ariadne" was so severe that there was imminent danger of the vessel tipping over and sink at the dock. A rapid response by the rescue station with some powerful pumps quickly righted the vessel again. There was no one on board when the accident occurred, and the ship seemed to have suffered no significant damage.
