Tanker Palva under repair off coast of Cape Breton
A 225-metre merchant tanker ship is anchored off the coast of Sydney as it undergoes repairs. Located approximately eight miles northeast of Sydney harbour on Friday, the ship's name is Palva and it is registered in Finland. "It's been anchored there and they're conducting repairs to their auxiliary engine," said Stephen Bornais, spokesperson with the Canadian Coast Guard - Atlantic Region. He referred further questions to Transport Canada, but no information was available from Transport Canada late Friday. According to online marine vessel tracking information, the ship has been positioned off the coast of Cape Breton for several days. It was not known Friday how long the repairs are expected to take. Details like what, if any, cargo is on board, and Palva's final destination were also not immediately available. Palva was built in 2007. http://www.capebretonpost.com/News/Local/2013-07-12/article-3313417/Tanker-under-repair-off-coast-of-Cape-Breton/1Upload News
