In the afternoon of Jan 18 the Norwegian Coastguard inspected the area where the "Leif Roald» was wrecked with a helicopter. A small strip of oil stretching over one kilometer which was dissipating fast, and some debris were found where the fishing vessel went down at the Braken reef northwest of Averøy. Some of the floating debris was taken up by the Coast Guard, while the rest is the company's responsibility. There was no danger of contamination while it was estimated that the amount of oil could have been between 100 and 120 liters. It was not known how deep wreck was lying.
