Ferry return delayed due to lack of dock capacity

The 'Loch Shira' which had suffered a leak in its propulsion system and was withdrawn from service for repairs on Dec 12, was expected to return to service on Jan 31, 2022, following the completion of its drydocking schedule. Due to a lack of current dry dock capacity, repairs have been delayed and the vessel will remain off service until the end of January. The ferry 'Catriona' (IMO: 9759862) was continuing to operate the route until the 'Loch Shira' returns to service.

Ferry suffered technical hitch

The 'Loch Shira' suffered a technical hitch on Dec 10, 2021, and she was taken off service in the morning. The problem was resolved within one hour. The service recommenced with the 10.15 a.m. service from Largs.

Ferry suffered ramp problem

On Feb 12, 2020, the 'Loch Shira', serving between Largs and the Isle of Cumbrae has been affected by a technical problem with a ramp problem. Passengers were caught aboard for two hours. The ship returned to service later in the day with vehicles having to reverse on/off the ferry.
