Perpetrators stole mooring rope
The duty watchkeeper of the 'Lord Vishnu', which was moored in position 12 00 56 S, 77 11 34 W, at the Callao anchorage, spotted a small vessel under the starboard bow flare of the vehicle carrier on Nov 8, 2021, at 8.10 p.m. After informing the duty officer, the watchkeeper proceeded to the mooring station where he saw three perpetrators armed with knives. The watchkeeper immediately alerted the duty officer on the bridge who raised the general alarm, followed by an announcement through the intercom to inform all crew. The Master reported the incident to the coastal state and asked for assistance. The crew was mustered and all were accounted for. The vessel then sounded its whistle and flashed lights to deter the perpetrators from any further advances. Later, after seeing that the small vessel had moved away from the 'Lord Vishnu', the crew conducted a search, but the perpetrators were nowhere to be found. The crew increased their deck watch after confirming that the vessel was safe. A mooring rope was reported stolen. There was no reported damage to the vessel and there were no injuries to the crew.
