Ferry ran aground at Holm

Mon Jun 30 12:18:06 CEST 2025 Timsen

An engine failure caused the 'Lysingen', sailing on the route Vennesund - Holm in the Bindal municipality, to run aground on the evening of June 28, 2025. Due to problems with the main engine, the ferry drifted onto the sandbank at Holm. The crew had the situation under control, and the passengers on board the ferry were being looked after by them, while ways were sought to get them ashore. A tug was finally called by the opeator Torghatten, which pulled the ferry to its berth.

Lifeboat took ferry in tow

Fri Sep 14 23:11:22 CEST 2012 Timsen

Passengers between Sømna and Bindal had to wait up to 14 hours after the "Lysingen" suffered engine failure on Sep 14, 2012. Just before the vessel was to berth at the wharf at Holm it lost all power. The crew had to drop anchor to avoid an allision. The reserve ferry "Bognes" was could not be inserted because the "Lysingen" blocked the ferry landing for 12 days hours. The lifeboat "Harald V" from Rørvik took the vessel in tow in the foremidday hours, later the lifeboat "Skuld" pulled it to Brønnøysund where an investigation was started.
