The "Orapin 4" arrived safely in Chon Buri’s Sri Racha district on June 1 at 7.30 p.m. The vessel's communication system was destroyed and the diesel cargo drained. The crew of 14 was exhausted, bunt unharmed. The ship had been hijacked on May 28 at 2 a.m. in the Strait of Malacca by 10 pirates with guns and knives. They tied the crew up, seized the communication devices and siphoned the cargo onto another ship within 10 hours. They also stole documents and painted over the ship's name, reducing it to "Rapi". The tanker was released at 9 p.m. with sufficient fuel to return to port. It was anchored 2 km off Udom Bay in the Sri Racha District.
