MAGNUM POWER 9488968

Tue May 24 04:05:33 CEST 2011 odinfm

Port of Barranquilla, Columbia, is partially blocked by a stranded bulk carrier Chios Wind, laden with 25,000 mt of grain, which ran aground presumably at May 18 2011 at port’s entrance channel. Another vessel, m/v Magnum Power, ran aground a week earlier, but she doesn’t hinder the traffic. As of May 22, 4 vessels were waiting outside for clearing the channel, 4 vessels were able to leave the port - Tradewind Palm, Orawa, Kopalnia Halemba and Sanago. Port authorities don’t have enough salvage means, and asked US for assistance, tug Ouranos is to arrive May 24 in the morning. Inability to dredge channel is blamed for accidents, it is said there is an urgen need to remove the sand banks which have formed at the entrance of the port. Maritime bulletin www.odin.tc
