Medevac in Bering Sea

Thu Dec 31 18:26:06 CET 2020 Timsen

The US Coast Guard medevaced an injured fisherman on Dec 30, 2020, from the 'Magnus Martens' in the Bering Sea, about 80 miles northeast of Dutch Harbor. The patrol boat 'Alex Haley' learned via VHF marine radio at about 11:30 a.m. that the fisherman was in need of assistance off the north coast of Unimak Island on Slime Bank. An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew based out of Air Station Kodiak and deployed aboard the 'Alex Haley', hoisted the man from the vessel Magnus Martens after he suffered a severe leg injury. He was flown to Cold Bay and placed in the care of awaiting Guardian Flight Alaska personnel for further transport to Anchorage.
