Medevac off Alicante
On June 9, 2023, the medical evacuation of a German passenger with cardiovascular problems became necessary from the 'Mein Schiff 2' about two nautical miles southeast of Alicante. The CCS Valencia of Salvamento Marítimo mobilized the SAR boat 'Salvamar Leo', which embarked the patient and transferred him to Alicante for further medical attention. Medevac off Cartagena
On May 19, 2023, a passenger of the 'Mein Schiff 2' needed to be medevaced at the Cartagena anchorage. The SAR boat 'Salvamar Draco' embarked the patient and transferred him to the port, from where he was transferred to the Santa Lucía hospital. The medevac was coordinated by the MRCC of Salvamento Marítimo in Cartagena.
Strike in Germany affected passengers of cruise ship in Bridgetown
The strike at German airports and in municipal public transport companies in seven federal states on March 27, 2023, bringing operations at some airports in Germany to a standstill, also affected the embarkation onf the 'Mein Schiff 2' in Bridgetown. In order for guests to be able to arrive on board for their two-week Caribbean cruise, TUI Cruises tried to postpone the flights from MArch 27 to March 26 evening in order to avoid the strike and changes to the 'Mein Schiff 2' itinerary. The departures to Bridgetown on the island of Barbados in the southern Caribbean are scheduled to take place in the evening of March 26. TUI Cruises informed guests about their new flight time and flight number. TUI Cruises only takes care of guests with flights booked through the shipping company. Guests with individually booked flights must contact their airline directly. The last embarkation for the two-week Caribbean cruise through the southeastern Caribbean will take place in Barbados on March 27. The transatlantic cruise to Europe will then begin on April 7 in La Romana and on April 10 in Barbados. The outbound flight to Barbados with Condor will take place on March 27 as planned. Guests should plan additional time at the airport as there may be long waiting times as a result of the strike. All planned outbound flights to Barbados could be brought forward to March 26 Condor flight DE 3744 departed at 7:30 p.m., Condor flight DE 3812 departed at 7 p.m. and Eurowings Discover flight 4Y 2102 departed at 9:10 p.m. Check-in for the Eurowings Discover flight was at 5 p.m. at counters 544 to 548 in Hall B instead. The domestic German feeder flights from Berlin, Hamburg and Munich were canceled without replacement as a result of the strike. They could not be rebooked to March 26. The affected guests were asked to travel to Frankfurt Airport independently. The feeder flights from Vienna and Zurich to Frankfurt could be rebooked to match the new flight times of the flights to Barbados and therefore took place March 26. The affected guests have already their new flight time via email.
