Thu May 21 09:42:42 CEST 2015 Timsen

On May 20, 2015, at midday the NSRI Richards Bay was alerted by the Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) to prepare for the arrival of the "Canon Trader I", sailing from Tuticorin to Richards Bay, and reporting a 25 year old Filipino crewman onboard suffering dehydration and stomach cramps. At 7 p.m. the vessel arrived at the anchorage and wthe "Spirit of Richards Bay" was launched, accompanied by a Netcare 911 rescue paramedic. On arrival zjr NSRI rescue crew and the paramedic were transferred aboard the ship where they treated the patient with intravenous fluid therapy and oxygen. He was then secured into a Stokes basket stretcher and transferred aboard our sea rescue craft to be brought ashore. A Netcare 911 ambulance has transported the patient to hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.
