Collision on Danube

The "Moldavia" was in collision with the Ukrainian cargo barge "Irkutsk" on the Danube at river km 1730 near Esztergom on May 5, 2017, around 5 a.m. One person was injured in the accident, and the "Moldavia" suffered severe damage at port side and dropped anchor at Párkánytól, a hundred meters away. The accident occurred on the Hungarian section of the Danube, so the circumstances of the accident were investigated by the Hungarian police. The Budapest Police Headquarters took a 58 year old Ukrainian national in custody for threatening navigation.
