Ferry holed in allision

The 'Moskva', which services the route from Vladivostok to Popov Island, allided with a bollard and was holed at the starboard side, while mooring on Popov Island in pos. 42 58 13 N, 131 44 48 E, amid strong gusts of winds in the evening of April 11, 2023. The vessel suffered two holes in the the hull above the waterline, which did not affect the safety of the vessel. Neither the crew nor passengers were injured. The hull was to be repaired withinin the next days.

Captain will go on trial after grounding incident

On Dec 29 the Eastern Inter-regional Investigation Department for Transport of the Russian Federation repored in Primorye that the captain of the 'Moskva' will go on trial for violating the rules of traffic safety and operation of maritime transport. On Oct 1, the defendant, while in the Stark Strait of the Peter the Great Bay of the Sea of Japan near the coastal zone of Russky Island, did not observe the generally accepted methods and methods of managing the ship while sailing in cramped conditions and with limited visibility, maneuvered the vessel to the left, after which the catamaran went to a shallow depth, hooked the edge of the reef with the left propeller and ran aground with both propellers. There were 171 passengers and four crew members on board, no one was hurt. The vessel suffered damage to the propeller blades.
