Tanker boarded by robbers

The 'MTM Penang' was boarded by robbers and stole ship's stores at the port of Belawan on May 15, 2020, between 9 p.m. and 11.30 p.m. The incident was noticed after the completion of cargo operations, when the crew spotted a robber emerging from the emergency steering room. The crew mustered and the robbers were seen escaping in their boat. A search was conducted, and engine spares were reported missing, presumed stolen. The incident was reported to the Belawan Port Authority.

Tanker boarded by perpetrators

Three perpetrators armed with knives boarded che 'MTM Penang' while at anchor and the third engineer was conducting safety rounds in the engine room at the Panjang anchorage, Lampung, Sumatra, in position 005 30 06S, 105 18 18E, on Dec 24, 2019, at 03.30 a.m. The perpetrators attempted to attack the duty oiler. The third engineer immediately ran to the engine control room and raised the general alarm. Hearing the alarm, the perpetrators fled and escaped over the starboard side by a rope attached to the vessel's guard rails. A search of the vessel was conducted by the crew and the Master reported the incident to the Panjang authorities. None of the crew were injured and nothing was reported stolen.
