Perpetrator boarded towed barge

Tue Nov 16 10:07:09 CET 2021 Timsen

While the 'MTS Vantage' was towing the barge 'BM-2101' in position 01 07 28.2 N, 103 32 34.8 E in the eastbound lane of the Singapore Strait, a perpetrator was sighted on board the unmanned barge on Nov 12, 2021, at 0455 a.m. The Master reported that all the tug's crew were safe, while one coil of towing rope and a mooring rope were stolen from the barge. No further assistance was required, and the tug-barge combination continued its voyage from Singapore to Darwin with an ETA as of Nov 27.

Tug damaged in deadly collision

Sun May 27 00:38:30 CEST 2012 Timsen

the Antigua-Barbuda-flagged cargo m/v "Planet V" on its way from Antwerp to St. Petersburg was in collision with the "MTS Vantage" on the Westerscheldt on Flushing roads on May 26, 2012, at 6 p.m. after a complete loss of engine power. The crew of the "Planet V" tried to lower the anchor after the blackout to avoid a collision with the tug which was on parallel course, but the anchor chain of the "Planet V" broke and hit a crewmember on the foreship who was deadly injured. When ambulance personnel arrived on board the ship, the man was already deceased. Both ships were damaged. The tug entered the port of Flushing with own power. The cargo ship returned to the Bijleveld Port in Flushing under tow and was berthed at 20.20 p.m.
